Throughout his professional life, The Oceans have been a continual source of creative inspiration as well as the technical foundation for Chris. This is because the foundation for his career arose from his work filming arguably the most important, but oft-overlooked organisms - The Plankton. This collection documents that work. Shot on film and spanning the last 50 years of ocean expeditions, these pictures are a look back at where it all started.
While tackling the challenges of filming the ocean's smallest inhabitants, Chris, together with his father Peter, developed the Optics, Cameras, Rigs, and Techniques that enabled his work in Feature Films, Commercials, Documentaries, and IMAX. This collection is pulled from his extensive archive and consists of his favorite and most meaningful pieces.
Our 6-year plan is all about building a community that we can take on the journey with us and we are in it for the long term - but why are we using NFTs to tell these stories?
We want to inspire change by stimulating curiosity in the natural world. In revealing beauty in unexpected ways, we hope to inspire and remind our audiences of what we have to lose while telling incredible and engaging stories. There is an infinite number of incredible stories in the natural world and NFTs allow us to tell these in entirely new ways.
Creating the interest and desire to find out more
Telling stories that you need to tell your friends and family
Stimulating empathy and a desire to get involved
Using NFTs as the ‘base’ for all our future projects means that we can involve our collectors in some of the future decisions, and continually improve upon our experiences through feedback. Content creation is all about communication and having our community involved will ensure that we are communicating as effectively as possible.
Project selection and direction
Creative and artistic decisions
Species and subject focus
Language and Interactivity effectiveness
Telling the stories we find important is about engaging our audiences. That’s why we use narrative, 3D, AR/VR, and now NFTs. As technology progresses so the way we tell stories will change with it. NFTs are incredible at engaging audiences, and we believe that that potential is only just starting to be realized for storytelling and direct action projects.

Artist, Photographer and Filmmaker
Chris is an artist and filmmaker known for creating vast expansive worlds and impossible to film visuals, without digital enhancement, including iconic works for Terrence Malick’s ‘The Tree of Life’, Darren Aronofsky’s ‘The Fountain and Justin Kurzel’s ‘Assassin’s Creed’.
Chris developed his unique style and his technique for painting within very small volumes of liquid after leaving the Royal College of Art in London and while working alongside Peter as a wildlife cameraman, specialising in capturing the very smallest creatures on our planet and much of the Invisible Oceans Founder's Collection.
He has been called on by a glittering array of the world's top brands to collaborate on commercials projects. This includes work for companies such as Vogue, Apple, Sony, Rolls Royce, Coca Cola and Hennessy. However, it was the advent of NFTs that finally created an outlet for Chris's video paintings. Since entering the space in early 2021 he has fully embraced NFTs, both as a successful solo artist and in collaboration with others.
Alongside his abstract work, Chris gets brought on board some of Hollywood’s biggest films to supervise the stereo 3D. Following four years as stereo supervisor for ‘Gravity’, Chris has been responsible for the 3D across films that include ‘Edge of Tomorrow’, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ and has recently completed work on the latest Bond film, and the only one to be made in 3D, 'No Time to Die'.
Filmmaker
Peter is an accomplished wildlife Cameraman/Director, marine biologist, engineer, artist and author who has spent 60 years creating some of the most innovative imagery across almost all areas of the film industry.
Peter has spent most of that time engrossed in the world of nature, be it underwater on The Great Barrier Reef of Australia, or an obscure island off the coast of Bermuda, in mid Atlantic, or conjuring up weird and wonderful special effects, based upon nature and natural science, for Feature Films, TV productions, or Imax spectaculars, both at OSF, the company he cofounded with others in 1968 and helped lead for twenty five years, or within Image Quest 3-D, for the following twenty seven years with his son, Chris.
Peter was honoured by the American Academy with an Oscar in 1983 and invested by Her Majesty The Queen with an OBE a year later.
He is currently designing and installing a major, permanent, marine exhibit, within the spectacular fishing village and harbour of Charlestown, Cornwall.
The Invisible Oceans Founder's Collection are being dropped narratively. That means that the 100 NFTs are dropped a few at a time, and the NFTs that are dropped together are linked by a story. These stories might be biological or technical or even aesthetic but through these stories collectors will come to learn more about the overarching Invisible Oceans project and how it came about.
The Invisible Oceans Founder's Collection is the start of several years of content, linked by a series of NFT projects. The collection is both figuratively and literally where it all started and owners of the Founder's NFTs will be involved in every project going forwards in some truly innovative and exclusive ways.
Whitelist
Chris is currently working on a very exciting collaboration with a director who he has worked with before. They are going to be dropping a 1,000 piece 1/1 collection based on Chris's work. Even more excitingly, this will be the largest 1/1 video art NFT collection created. All owners of an Invisible Oceans Founder's Collection NFT will be whitelisted for the drop.
Free sideload of the home version
Drop in the Ocean, the virtual reality experience that was created by Chris and his team at Vision3 and has so far only been available to view in public locations and at special events for business leaders and global politicians, is being repurposed for the home. Owners of an Invisible Oceans Founder's Collection NFT will be able to download the experience for free and can be among the first to experience it.
Free NFT Drop
A 10,000 piece collectable project is already underway based on Critical Distance, the Augmented Reality experience that Chris and team created. It tells the story of the Southern Resident Orcas in the Pacific Northwest and was installed in the Smithsonian AMNH in Washington through 2021 and is now touring. The NFTs will be continually updated with real world metrics and with ongoing research into the Southern Resident Orcas. Holders of an Invisible Oceans Founder's Collection NFT will be airdropped a Critical Distance NFT on launch.
Real World Opportunities
Holders of an Invisible Oceans Founder's Collection NFT will be able to experience real world opportunities such as supporting the creation of the next experience, trips on whale watching research vessels, involvement in conservation programs, career opportunities and more. As part of the family, we want to support you in the same way as you are supporting us!
If you have any questions or comments, want to be kept updated or just want to chat, we will always try to get back to you within one working day.
